If you have a Wayne Bank checking account, be sure to take advantage of the convenience of our Visa check card
What is a Visa check card, and how is it different from a Visa credit card?
A Visa check card is a type of debit card that looks like a credit card, but acts like a check because the purchase amount is deducted from your checking account. With your Visa check card you can make purchases with your card anywhere Visa is accepted.
Since Visa check card purchases are automatically deducted from your account, there's no interest for you to pay. Your monthly statement will provide you with a record of all of your transactions.
Unlike a Visa credit card, your Visa check card may also be used to withdraw cash from your accounts. This can be done using your personal identification number (PIN) to request cash back when making a purchase. You can also use your check card to withdraw cash from ATM's.
Can I choose my own PIN number?
Within a few days of receiving your Visa check card in the mail, you will receive a separate mailing (for security purposes) with your PIN number. In order to change your PIN number you will have to go to a Wayne Bank ATM machine and enter your assigned PIN number. Then follow the instructions on the screen to change the PIN to a number of your choosing. Please note, Wayne Bank does not have access to your PIN number, thus, it is vital that you remember your PIN number or keep it written in a safe place. If you lose your PIN number, a new PIN number can be ordered for you.
Is using a check card a safe way to make purchases?
Using your Visa check card for purchases is actually safer than using cash or checks. Visa offers cardholders Zero Liability in cases of card fraud, theft or unauthorized purchases when used in signature based transactions. Additionally, when cardholders sign for purchases they are covered by dispute resolution protection in case there is something wrong with a purchase—something cash or checks can't offer.
